Our most important event is the annual Frankfurt Spring Ball, which always takes place on the first non-Easter Saturday in the second half of April. The Ball now has its own page.
Due to popular demand there will be a special afternoon on Sunday, 1 June 2008. Anselm will teach Highland dancing (Scottish solo dances). We shall meet from 2.30pm to 6pm in the »Großer Saal« of the Haus der Jugend (Frankfurt youth hostel) and work on simple steps and dances. No prior knowledge is required, but a certain familiarity with Scottish country dancing would be a definite asset. The event is free (we may put up a piggy bank to cover the rent for the hall); please provide your own refreshments.
See also the event page (also to register online).
On 22 June 2008 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. there will be another »crash course« under the auspices of the Frankfurt SCD teacher programme. Those who have been with the programme for a while will work on new things, and we will also get some new people started. There's no definite plan yet, but the focus will probably be on step practice and formations.
This event is not only aimed at programme members — other dancers will be very welcome as »stooges«. Please give the desired role in the registration form. We should also like to invite members of the surrounding groups to participate as »stooges« or have a go at teaching (in the latter case, please contact Anselm beforehand).
This year we have once more registered to participate in the Frankfurt Museumsuferfest (Museum Embankment Festival). Whether we will take part or not will be decided in June, but we have fixed two special rehearsal dates on the off-chance, 22 and 29 July (this is during the summer holidays, so we will dance in the Haus der Jugend). The first dancing Tuesday after the holidays will probably also be used for rehearsals.
During the school holidays in Hesse we do not dance but occasionally meet for »alternative Tuesdays« (games, beer garden, etc.)
