10th January 2010: 6th FSCDC Central Germany Branch Tea Dance

Despite the truly unpleasant wintry weather conditions about 45 dancers from near and far came together to dance and meet each other in the »Haus der Jugend« in Frankfurt. Anselm Lingnau taught dances fitting the motto »Dances to Songtunes«, explained the dances and the texts of the songs to which we danced.

Like the last 5 times no programme was published beforehand so that the dancers were not prepared - but the dances were well explained, walked through at least twice if not more often and not too difficult. Each dance offered a »special something«

Here is the full programme of what we danced:

  1. THE FAIRY FLAG          John Drewry: Rondel Book           8R32  3/4L
  2. COMING THROUGH THE RYE  Carolyn Hunt: 2nd SF Coll          8J40  3/4L
  3. BRYNICH SHIELING        Babs Hewinson: Casnewydd Coll      4S32  4/4L
  4. HE DANCED AWA'          Hugh Foss: Glendarroch 3           8J32  2/4L
  5. CALLER HERRIN'          Hugh Foss: Dances to Song Tunes    8R40  3/4L
  6. THE BORDER WEAVERS      Alex Gray: Tweeddale Coll II       3S32  3/3L
  7. HEY, JOHNNIE COPE       Hugh Foss: Dances to Song Tunes    8R32  3/4L

We started at 2 p.m. and danced until the coffee-break at 4 p.m. with nice cakes (some of which some of the dancers had prepared). At 6 p.m. the entertaining afternoon finished with a speedy clearing of the place. Then almost a quarter of the dancers went to the restaurant we usually go to, the »Eichkatzerl«, which offers tasty portions of tradional German food
