Six of us were all too glad to join the team of the second Burns Supper of the
British Chamber of Commerce in Germany this year. The evening exceeded our
expectations once more!
Much to Burns delight would have been this year's Burns Supper in the
impressive Freemason's Lodge »Zur Einigkeit« in Frankfurt - the event was as
merry as one could wish for. The organisation (Neville Anderson and Susan
Tackenber) was perfect again - the more than 100 guests enjoyed the fabulous
traditional Scottish menue (Scotch Broth, Haggis, 'neeps' and Tatties and
Cranachan, a delicious and sinful desert based on cream and whisky), the
whiskies and wines served. The band »Scapa Flow« was great to listen and
dance to - and the various speeches

(among others from Brian Laird) were
great to listen to (although not always understandable for non-Scottish
ears ...) We enjoyed working with the band for the first time - and were
delighted that the guests were such avid and enthusiastic dancers after the
meal and speeches were over. When the last words of Auld Lang Syne were sung
by 1.00 in the morning we felt that most had been part of an exceptional
evening! Thanks to everybody involved! - We hope for a third time next year -
and for pictures from this year's photographer
Sandra McCrea. (These pictures were taken with our camera.)
(Note: There is a longer description with links to the various musicians in German - but we had no time yet to translate everything ...)
