On 10 November, we again offered an »open dance evening« under the auspices of the Frankfurt Intercultural Weeks. The motto was Scottish Dancing for Everyone — Lots of Fun with Jigs and Reels since ...
From 14 p.m. to 19 p.m. there was another »crash course« under the auspices of the Frankfurt SCD teacher programme in the Großer Saal, Haus der Jugend, Frankfurt. Four dancers of the Frankfurt group who have been with the programme for a while, one newcomer and one from the Darmstadt group worked on new things. The focus was on warm-up, on step practice and teaching formations since the six know already pretty well how to teach dances.
For the 90th birthday of Anselm's grandmother four of us had the honour to dance at the reception in the Red Salon of the Schlosshotel Kronberg much to the delight of the guests.
Due to popular demand there was once more a special afternoon on Sunday. Anselm taught Highland dancing. Eleven of us met from 15pm to 19pm in the »Kleiner Saal« of the Haus der Jugend (Frankfurt youth hostel) and worked on simple steps and dances. No prior knowledge was required, but most participants had a certain familiarity with Scottish country dancing. The event was free. Like in the famous annual highland-workshop the week-end after Easter in the Kuckucksnest Anselm taught the advanced dancers and the beginners alternatingly (every 15 minutes one group learned and practiced a certain amount of the respective dance, time to rest and practice for those not taught while the other group worked).
Since the second of the three FSCDC-Evas also decided to marry this year a few of us came to the church-ceremony and the reception afterwards to Köln-Sürth to join Björn's and Eva's families and friends.
And because Eva is known to like scottish country dancing for so long her parents had organised a piper who lead the way out of the (modern) church where the FSCDC-guests (not in Scottish gear) accompagnied their first married steps outside with hundreds of soap-bubbles.
On behalf of Eva and myself, and with apologies for hijacking the event-log on personal business, I'd like to thank everybody who sent congratulations on our wedding to us on and off Strathspey or by any other means. A big thank you from both of us to everybody who sent presents, contributed to our guest book, the fantastic cake buffet, the dancing and everything else which made it a very special event!
We had a wonderful day with family and friends, the memories of which will stay with us for a very long time.
