Tea Dance in Frankfurt

Yet another opportunity for members and friends of the Frankfurt SCD Club and RSCDS Central Germany Branch to meet, get to know one another, and dance in a relaxed atmosphere.

There are many sources for the titles of Scottish country dances: people (“Miss Milligan’s Strathspey”), landmarks (“Schiehallion”), beverages (“Glayva”), and so on. But a variety of dances take their names from figures from popular culture, from the fabled wizard Merlin to Robert Burns’s Tam o’ Shanter to the cute animals from “The Wind in the Willows” (and beyond). This leaves lots of scope for an afternoon full of fun and the odd challenge to dancers under the motto

“Stranger than Fiction – Dances inspired by books and films”

Anselm Lingnau will teach dances at intermediate level – although advanced dancers are, as always, very welcome. There will be an ample break for tea and coffee, and after the dancing we will once more adjourn to a nearby pizza restaurant with anyone who wants to stay on.

Admission (includes tea/coffee/cake): 5 euros for RSCDS members, 7 euros for everyone else.

Important: The event does not take place at the Haus der Jugend in Sachsenhausen, but at the St Dionysius community centre in Sindlingen (like the 2014 Tea Dance). The hall there is somewhat smaller, so we would recommend registering early! We can accommodate approximately 4 sets; if necessary, people will be admitted in order of registration.
