13 October 2012: Highland Dance Workshop at the »Haus der Jugend«
»Dancing on the rooftops of Frankfurt« – that was our first thought at entering today's room, the »Skyline Deck«. Instead of a smaller seminar room at ground level we had opted for this fifth-story room at the »Haus der Jugend« and were rewarded with a great view on Frankfurt, with lots of sunshine and splendid autumn weather.
A nice room, where dancing meant extra fun, especially because Anselm had once more conceived an interesting programme. After warming up and stretching he first taught three strathspey and three reel setting steps, which we then combined into a dance, The Speyside Reel (by Derek Haynes).
Newly refreshed after a brief coffee/tea break, we had another step practice. Then Anselm showed us a second dance, Two for Three for one couple, which he had written himself. This was another chance to practice the just-learned highland steps, before we adjourned to our favourite apple-cider pub, the Eichkatzerl to reward ourselves for our exertions.
